A polling station employee was detained by authorities Saturday after being accused of rigging votes

A polling station employee was detained by authorities Saturday in Sohag, Upper Egypt, after being accused of rigging votes during the second round ballot of national parliamentary elections.

The employee, whose name is Ibrahim, is said to have filled out some ballot papers himself in an electoral committee located in Arabat Aboul-Dahab Village, giving votes to an unknown candidate.

The whole ballot box was declared null and void by elections authorities.

The defendant, who will be detained for four days pending investigation, also had electoral list ballot papers on him, which is also against the law.
