The 29-year old, Essien sustained a tear ligament during the pre-season camp, hereby he has been ruled out of actions for six months and he hasn’t featured with the Blues this season.
Essien has been left out of Ghana squad for the 2012 African Cup of Nations because of the injury, but Chelsea medical staff hope the player will be back in reckoning for a first team place soon.
