Libya

Best player: Ihab Al Bouseffi (Libya)

Forward Bouseffi scored twice to give Libya a 2-1 victory over Senegal which was not enough to lift them to the tournament’s quarter-finals.

He needed four minutes to open the scoring when he shot through the legs of Senegal keeper Khadim Ndiaye after some good work from Ahmed Saad.

Senegal managed to equalize but Bouseffi struck again with a superb volley with six minutes remaining to hand Libya a consolation victory.

Brief overview

Libya bowed out of the tournament with heads held high after producing a spirited display against pre-tournament favourites Senegal, who could not grab a consolation win after losing a third consecutive match.

Zambia, inspired by captain Christopher Katongo, continued their fine run with a 1-0 win over co-hosts Equatorial Guinea which helped them finish on top of Group A with seven points. E. Guinea came second on six points.
