Official electoral results closely match Ahram Online's initial tally

Ahram Online, Sunday 24 Jun 2012

Sunday's figures from the electoral commission show little variation from our collated results

With his announcement that Mohamed Morsi has been elected Egypt's next president, Judge Farouk Sultan put an end to a week of speculation in Egyptian and international media about who was set to take the hot seat.

Ahram Online, however, reported accurately tabulated results just a few hours after polling stations closed last Sunday night.

The final results announced by the Supreme Presidential Elections Committee (SPEC) on Sunday afternoon were as follows:

Morsi     : 13,230,131 (52 per cent)

Shafiq    : 12,347,380 (48 per cent)

And here is a snapshot of Ahram Online's vote count on 18 June 2012.
