US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton answered a question on Sunday at a press conference regarding the candidacy of Muslim Brotherhood's Khairat El-Shater as a presidential candidate in Egypt saying that US will “monitor” all political powers in Egypt in order to see their commitment to human rights and dignity.
Clinton who was representing her country at the 'Friends of Syria' press conference in Istanbul added that the US wanted Egypt to progress in the democratic transition and that the US will hold Egypt's political powers in Egypt “accountable” according to their actions.
"We hope that the Egyptian people get what they protested for in Tahrir Square and that’s complete open pluralistic democracy that respects the rights of every Egyptian," Clinton said in answer to a question about whether the United States welcomed the candidacy of Khairat El-Shater. On Saturday, the Brotherhood announced that El-Shater resigned as deputy chairman of the Brotherhood to run in the presidential elections as a representative of the Brotherhood and its political arm the Freedom and Justice Party.
