Abu El Ezz El-Hariri, an elected MP and long-time political activist, is running on the Socialist Popular Alliance Party (SPAP) ticket.
Presidential contender Abul-Ezz El-Hariri, has said that there has been a conspiracy to destroy the revolution.
During talk show "People's Book" presented by Hala Sarhan on Rotana Channel on Sunday, El-Hariri argued that revolution has invalidated the 1971 constitution, and if the referendum to amend the constitution in March 2011 had not taken place, the ruling military council would not have been able to stay in power as long as it has, and the Brotherhood would not have been able to usurp all legislative powers.
He described the referendum that took place as a "betrayal of the revolution."
A well-known member of parliament, socialist, labour activist over the past 50 years, Abul-Ezz El-Hariri is a presidentiial candidate who has a long record of fighting for social justice.
The Socialist Popular Alliance Party nominated El-Hariri on 7 March, 2012 to be the party's candidate in the presidential elections, and he announced his candidacy that night on Al-Arabiya satellite TV.
Presidential elections will take place on 23 and 24 May, and the president will be named on 21 June after a runoff voting round on 16 and 17 June.
