Egyptian expatriates in Saudi Arabia will be able to cast ballots in upcoming presidential elections at the Egyptian consulate in Riyadh from 11 to 17 May.

Egyptian Ambassador to Saudi Ali El-Esheiry told Al-Ahram's Arabic-language website that Egyptian expatriates in the oil-rich kingdom would be able to vote via internet or by going to the consulate itself.

According to El-Esheiry, vote-counting procedures will begin on 18 May after which ballots will be sent to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Cairo headquarters before being forwarded on to Egypt's Supreme Presidential Elections Commission.

More than 700,000 Egyptian expats are expected to vote in Jeddah and the country's Western Region, while some 221,000 are expected to vote in Saudi capital Riyadh.

Egypt's first post-Mubarak presidential poll is slated to take place in Egypt on 23 and 24 May.
