Judge Hatem Begato secretary-general of the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) has denied that a police officer was killed on Wednesday morning.

Speaing at a noon press conference, Begato said that the policemen in the working class district of Rod El-Farrag, northern Cairo, died on Wednesday morning after he was shot in front of the polling station.

Corporal Ahmed Abdel-Mawla was hit in the chest by a stray gunshot during a street fight between armed civilians on Wednesday morning, an earlier statement from the Ministry of the Interior said.
