PM Ganzouri calls on Egyptians to accept results of looming runoff vote

Prime Minister holds Wednesday meeting with cabinet to discuss possible scenarios following High Constitutional Court verdicts on political disenfranchisement, parliamentary elections

Prime Minister Kamal El-Gazouri held a meeting with the cabinet on Wednesday morning to discuss the possible scenarios the government may adopt concerning the High Constitutional Court regarding the presidential elections and parliament. The High Constitutional Court is expected to issue its verdict on the disenfranchisement law and the presidential candidacy of Ahmed Shafiq on Thursday. 

The High Constitutional Courtwill also determine the fate of parliament on the same day. 

El-Gazouri also issued a decree making Saturday and Sunday national holidays for civil servants working in the public sector. 

The prime minister also issued a statement on Wednesday regarding the upcoming presidential elections to be held on 16 and 17 June, praising the presidential elections. "What is happening in Egypt calls for admiration and respect from all the countries of the world; we hope the political situation in Egypt will stabilise."

He went on to urge the Egyptian people to accept the results of the runoff vote.
