Egypt's Alaaeldin Abouel-Kassem has defeated Peter Joppich of Germany 15-10 (4/1, 4/5, 7/4) in the Men's Individual Foil Round of 16 on Tuesday.

In Round of 32, Abouelkassem won against Miles Chamley-Watson from the United States 15-10 (4/2, 8/6, 3/2) while Egypt's Tarek Ayad lost 15-8 (10/5, 5/3) against Russia's Alexey Cheremisinov.

Ayad reached round of 32 after beating countryman Anas Mostafa 15-5 (11/3, 4/2) in the round of 64.

Abouel-Kassem will be playing in the quarterfinals late Tuesday against the winner of Japan's Yuki Ota and Andrea Cassara of Italy game.
