Ghana and UAE's Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan is not worried over his current goal drought with the national team ahead of this month's Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The 27-year-old frontman is producing some impressive displays in the UAE league this season, having scored 21 goals in 13 appearances so far.
However, Gyan has not scored for Ghana since converting a famous free-kick against Mali in the 2012 Nations Cup.
“It doesn’t worry me at all, because I think my national team ratio of goal scoring is quiet impressive,” Gyan was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet on Tuesday.
“I am somebody who doesn’t predict, I make sure I help the team to win.
“It doesn’t only depend on me, sometimes there might be opportunities that I have to release the ball for somebody to score.
“This is what we call team work. When I get the chance to score, definitely as a striker people will be expecting you to score.
“That is what I do so when I get the opportunity to score I will score,” the former Udinese, Rennes and Sunderland hitman added.
Four-time African champions Ghana will play in Group B of the Nations Cup along with Mali, DR Congo and Niger. The tournament will take place from 19 January to 10 February in South Africa.
