She noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Egypt and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi underscore the depth of the historical ties between the two countries and strengthen their strategic partnership across various fields, spanning 70 years of cooperation. She also noted that the Egyptian Chinese University is celebrating this year the 10th anniversary of the commencement of studies at its faculties in 2016.
Dr. Abdel Karim said that the Egyptian Chinese University is the first university in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East to bear the name of the longstanding Chinese state, renowned for its scientific and technological advancement across various fields, as well as its ancient history and civilisation and its longstanding historical ties with Egypt.
She stated that higher education and scientific research have become among the most important bridges through which these relations can reach broader horizons, transforming the partnership between the two countries from firmly established historical relations into sustained institutional cooperation that serves new generations.
She said that since its establishment, the Egyptian Chinese University has sought to serve as an important window onto the historical and strategic relations between Egypt and China and to reflect the depth of these relations through its educational mission.
This has included benefiting from advanced Chinese expertise in education, technology, innovation, industry and scientific research, and working to transfer this expertise and knowledge to Egyptian youth, thereby contributing to preparing generations capable of competing in the labour market locally and internationally, Dr, Abdel Karim stated.
She noted that the choice of the name “Egyptian Chinese University” was not merely an expression of an educational partnership, but rather reflected a vision aimed at building a bridge of knowledge and civilisation between the Egyptian and Chinese peoples.
Dr. Abdel Karim pointed out that relations between the two countries have deep roots extending over many decades and have witnessed significant development in various fields in recent years, with education playing a key role in opening new areas of cooperation, exchanging expertise and building bridges of communication between young people and academic institutions.
Moreover, she praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s strong and inspiring role in supporting higher education and scientific research, affirming that recent years have witnessed unprecedented attention to developing Egyptian universities, establishing new universities, expanding modern academic programmes and strengthening cooperation with prestigious international institutions and universities.
She added that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s continued directives to strengthen international partnerships with leading global universities and educational and research institutions represent a key pillar in developing the higher education system and benefiting from the best international experiences, in line with Egypt’s needs and labour-market requirements, both domestically and in regional and international markets.
Additionally, Dr. Abdel Karim indicated that the Egyptian state’s vision is no longer focused solely on increasing the number of university graduates, but also aims to produce graduates equipped with future skills and capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
This requires continuously developing academic programs and linking them to the actual needs of the labour market, she noted.
