Egypt's fencer Ayman Fayez has been eliminated from the round 16 after losing to Frenchman Gauthier Grumier on Tuesday.

Grumier won the contest 15-9 in three periods.

The Frenchman Grumier is a former 2006 World Champion and was silver medalist of the 2010 and 2015 contests.

He also helped France team claim the gold four times in 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2014.

Ayman Fayez has advanced to the Epee men's individuals round of 16 after beating the London 2012 gold medalist Ruben Limardo Gascon of Venezuela 15-5.

The 25-year-old Pharaoh avenged his 2012 loss, as he was ousted in round 32 by the Venezuelan at the London games.
