Rowing: Egypt's El-Banna, Negm reach single sculls quarter finals at Rio

Egypt's Abdel-Khaleq El-Banna reached the quarter finals in the men's rowing single sculls on Saturday after finishing third of heat 6.

He timed 7:34.05 minutes in the 1,500m event, coming after Jakob Nils Hoff from Norway (7:17.47m) and Damier Martin from Croatia (7:23.08m).

He will participate in the quarter finals on Tuesday.

Nadia Negm reached the quarter finals of the women's rowing single sculls after finishing third at heat 3.

She timed 9:15.55 minutes in the 1500m event, to come behind Carling Zeeman form Canada (8:41.12m) and Sanita Puspure from Ireland (9:11.45m).

Earlier in the day, Shaima Hashad ended the women's 10m air rifle qualifying round in 27th place, registering 413.2 pts.

Her teammate Hadir Mekhemar ended the same event in 49th place (401.3 pts).
