Two days before the start of the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon, Egypt ranked 35th in FIFA's January global rankings of national teams, moving up one positiion from last month's.
The Pharaohs, who defeated Tunisia 1-0 in a friendly game last Sunday within preparations for the CAN 2017, are ranked first among Arab countries and third on the continent, after Senegal (33) and Ivory Coast (34).
Egypt's North African Arab neighbors, Tunisia (36) and Algeria (39), each lost one position.
The record seven-time African champions, Egypt will start their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on 17 January, having been drawn in Group D alongside Ghana (54), Mali (64) and Uganda (73).
Egypt made it into the world's top 10 highest-ranked national teams when they won three successive CAN trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
In other highlights, Suriname are the best mover in this month's rankings, jumping 22 places, while Trinidad and Tobago fell hardest, each dropping five places.
