Essam El-Hadary set a goalkeeping record for the longest run without conceding a goal in the Africa Nations Cup after completing 675 minutes unbeaten in Egypt's semi-final tie against Burkina Faso on Wednesday.
The 44-year-old surpassed Cameroon's Alioum Boukar previous record of 643 minutes set in 2000 and 2002 although he was finally beaten in the 73rd minute when Aristide Bance scored from inside the area for Burkina Faso.
The Pharaohs were already ahead when he conceded the goal but he then turned out to be the hero, saving two penalty kicks from Herve Koffi and Bertrand Traore to lead Egypt to the final.
Hadary, a four-time African champion and a three-time winner of the best keeper award, has achieved his record over two editions - 2010 and 2017 - having kept a clean sheet since conceding from Cameroon's Achille Emana in the 25th minute of the 2010 quarter final.
The Wadi Degla keeper has already set a record for the oldest player in the Nations Cup when he came on as a substitute against Mali in the opening game, replacing Ahmed El-Shennawi after he was injured.
