For its 66th edition, the international radio, TV and web competition Prix Italia has issued an open call for submissions of film works that tackle the topic of refugees, from students and independent filmmakers and producers from North Africa, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.
"The aim is to go beyond the usual information provided by the media, offering a more human perspective of the phenomenon of the refugees," reads the Prix Italia press release.
An honorary prize will be awarded to the best film, in message and quality, by Prix Italia, in collaboration with the Permanent Conference of Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM).
The winning filmmaker will be invited to the official opening of Prix Italia on 20 September 2014. The event will also feature a debate entitled "Refugees Stories: Glances from the South."
The deadline for submission is 20 August. More information about conditions of participation see here.
