‘After the Spring: Rewriting History’ the second exhibition this year organised and hosted by Al-Ahram Establishment Art Gallery and comprising artworks from the establishment’s art collection, opened 21 May.

The exhibit features works from 12 international artists, from five countries, including Shorouk Amin from Kuwait, Naser Aswady from Yemen, and Mahmoud Abeidy from Iraq, as well as a number of established and young Egyptian artists including Khaled Hafez, Ahmed El-Shaer, Ashraf Reda and Ahmed Gaafary.

Artist Maher Dawood, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and the manager of Al-Ahram’s art collection and the establishment’s possessions, stated that the exhibition marks the true opening of Al-Ahram’s exhibition hall, which will aim to be a space displaying all forms of art from all over the world.

The exhibition opened shortly after the close of the establishment’s first show, titled Al-Ahram’s Visual Memory.

Al-Ahram was founded on 5 August 1875 by two Lebanese brothers, Beshara Takla and Saleem Takla, and soon became the most widely circulating Egyptian daily newspaper.

Later, it expanded to become the biggest press establishment in Egypt and one of the leading press foundations in the Middle East and North Africa. Today, Al-Ahram publishes numerous newspapers and periodicals, in Arabic, English and French.

The exhibition opened on 21 May and runs till 4 June, and is open from 1pm to 9pm, daily except Friday.
