Egyptian short Wintry Spring selected for Long Island International Film Expo

The Egyptian short film Wintry Spring ("Rabie Chetwy") is among the official selection of Long Island International Film Expo in the USA, which runs between 13 and 21 July.

A 16-minute film, Wintry Spring is directed by Mohamed Kamel and stars Ahmed Kamal

In May the film won major awards, including the best short and best actor award for Kamal at the Italian festival Fotogramma d'Oro. It then screened at the ShorTS International Film Festival in Italy.

The film depicts a relationship between a father and his daughter Nour, which develops a rift.

Born in 1981, Kamel is an Egyptian film director and screenwriter as well as a graduate from the High Institute of Cinema at the Academy of Arts, Cairo. He has numerous short films -- fiction and documentaries -- to his name, many of which were screened in numerous international festivals.

Star Kamal was born in 1959, and is well-known for his work in Egyptian theatre, cinema and television series. He has worked with many renowned directors. Kamal also gives acting workshops.
