Egyptian Minister of Culture Shaker Abdel Hamid on Tuesday appointed Kamilia Sobhy, professor of French literature, as secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Culture on a three-month mandate.

Sobhy has formerly served as chairman of the Central People’s Committees and cultural attaché at the Egyptian embassy in Paris.
