Cairo's Art Talks gallery will launch a book documenting French-Tunisian artist eL Seed's calligraffiti in Cairo titled Perception. The release date is set for 4 October.

Perception was unveiled in March 2016, covering around 50 buildings in the Zaraeeb community of Manshiyat Nasser in segments of a massive calligraphic artwork.

The full piece can only be seen from a specific point on Jabal Al-Moqattam.

The quote is taken from the words of the 3rd century patriarch of Alexandria, St. Athanasius: "Anyone who wants to look at the sunlight clearly must wipe his eyes first."

The completion of the mural was followed up by an exhibition hosted at Art Talks gallery.

The book documents the creation of the artwork and goes more in depth into the concept behind it.

The limited-edition books are an artwork in and of themselves.

"Each of the 500 limited editions of Perception has a hand-painted cover bearing part of the final artwork. I recreated the Perception installation across the covers of the books so that when all 500 come together, they will complete the jigsaw and the work will be visible," eLSeed shared through Art Talks.
