The Blue Angel, an exhibition of paintings by Egyptian artist Mohamed El-Damarawy, will open at Alkahila Gallery on 14 January.

El-Damarawy's work explores traditional themes, as his paintings are crowded with caricatured figures arranged closely together like a mosaic. His bright palette is contrasted by very dark corners, as he captures the highs and lows of traditional society.

Born in Beheira in 1981, El-Damarawy graduated from Luxor's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2003 and held his first exhibition in 2005. He then went on to exhibit his work in several group exhibitions in Cairo.

Programme:
14 January, at 8.30pm
AlKahila Art Gallery, 15 El Batal Ahmed Abdel Aziz street - Mohandessin
