Russian ambassador to Egypt Sergey Kirpichenko and director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo Aleksey Tevanyan have inaugurated the exhibition 'Diplomatic Creations' at the Grand Exhibition Hall of the Russian Cultural Centre in Dokki.
The inauguration took place to celebrate Russian Diplomacy Day, which is celebrated every year on 10 February.
Also attending the opening were ambassadors of Belarus Sergei Rachkov, Azerbaijan's Tural Rzayev, Kazakhstan's Arman Issagaliyev and Tajikistan's Khusrav Nozirias.
Fifty foreign diplomats from the embassies of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Spain took part in the exhibition.
They exhibited 200 works of art in the fields of painting, jewellery, clothing, miniatures, photography and handmade artworks. Among the participants in the field of drawing was ambassador of Azerbaijan Rzayev.
The Egyptian participation was represented by artists Heba Saleh and Rawan El-Guindy in the fields of drawing and photography.
Director of the Centre Tevanyan said that the exhibition of 'Diplomatic Creations' is the second of its kind after the success of the exhibition its first edition last year.
“This year, the exhibition was attended by more countries and participants,” he added.
In his inaugural speech, Tevanyan promised that the number of foreign diplomats to participate in the third edition of the exhibition will increase compared to the two previous sessions.
The success of the exhibition confirms that the arts are able to unify humanity and gather us all on a common ground of understanding, cooperation and mutual respect, which takes place within the framework of the popular diplomacy and reflects the other side of diplomats who have artistic talents, Tevanyan said.
The exhibition will continue through 14 February at the Russian Cultural Centre.
