The 50 films screened this year in Cairo during the CIFF's International Panorama will be classified into smaller sub-divisions

The 41st Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), taking place between 20 and 29 November, is creating sub-divisions for its International Panorama programme that screens 50 films each year.

The new categorisation system has been put in place "in order to shed light on certain groups of films that can be seen together, giving a coherent context for the audience," as explained by critic Ahmed Shawky, delegated artistic director of the CIFF.

The lives of five filmmakers explored

The first sub-division is titled 'CineTalents,' under which five international films are being released this year; four documentaries and one animation to "record the lives and career of five of the most important film artists in the history of world cinema," stated the CIFF organisers on Sunday.

'What does it mean to be an artist? What mark does the film artist leave on his world?' These are the two main questions that summarise the CineTalents theme.

The five films screened at the Panorama Special: CineTalents are as follows:

'Babenco – Tell Me When I Die'

Babenco, Tell Me When I Die
