The 2020 adventure drama titled 200 Meters won three awards at the El Gouna Film Festival, held from 23 to 30 October.
The film was screened as part of the official competition for feature narrative which brought Ali Suliman El Gouna Star for Best Actor for his role as the film's protagonist named Mustafa. The film also scooped the festival’s Audience Award for a film exemplifying humanitarian themes and the FIPRESCI Award.
Written and directed by Palestinian filmmaker Ameen Nayfeh, the film talks about "a Palestinian father trapped on the other side of the separation wall, trying to reach the hospital for his son," the IMDb reveals in its brief.
The film had its world premiere at the 17th Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days), a sidebar of the 77th Venice International Film Festival in September 2020. In Venice, it won the BNL People's Choice Award.
200 Meters was part of CineGouna Springboard’s projects in development selection at the inaugural edition of the festival (2017), where it was awarded the Mentor Arabia for Children and Youth Empowerment $5,000 cash prize.
