The fifth edition of the Aswan International Women Film Festival will be held from 24 to 30 May 2021, the festival's organisers revealed.
The festival was planned to take place in February; however, the dates were moved due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organisers added that during the upcoming edition they will announce the results of the referendum organised by the festival which aimed to select the best 100 Arab films created by women or revolving around women issues.
The opening ceremony will honour Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen, awarding her the Isis Achievement Award for her long career and achievement in the film industry.
Shaheen was the honorary president of the festival's first edition, which took place in February 2017.
The festival is organised under the auspices of the National Council for Women, with the support of the ministries of culture and tourism, the governorate of Aswan, the European Union, the Drosos Foundation, the Filmmakers Syndicate, and ACT Foundation.
