A special performance of BuSSy, where gender issues are brought to the limelight through storytelling, will take place on Wednesday 4 December in Downtown's Rawabet Theatre.
Through a series of theatre performances, often in the form of annually-renewed monologues, the artists -- young individuals with a passion for storytelling, rather than professionals -- recount incidents and experiences that reflect the condition of being a woman living in Egypt.
BuSSy started in 2006 when two American University in Cairo students who aimed to empower women directed a performance based on real stories centred on memories of womanhood.
In 2010, BuSSy transitioned from a university-affiliated group to an independent theatre project, performing in numerous venues around Egypt and abroad.
According to the team behind the project, BuSSy has now developed from an initiative tackling women's concerns to an ambitious attempt at addressing the complexity of gender issues at large, from both the male and female perspectives.
