Celebrating International Women's Day, a delegation from the Russian Cultural Centre surprised Egyptian women walking down the street and presented them with roses on International Women's Day.

In a new tradition by the Russian Cultural Centre in Cairo, a Russian delegation congratulated Egyptian women on 8 March, in cooperation with the Russian public movement ‘Volunteers of Victory,’ and presented them with bouquets of roses as they passed by the headquarters of the Russian Centre located in Tahrir Street, Dokki.

Director of the Russian Cultural Center Aleksey Tevanyan confirmed that "the celebration of International Women's Day is a constant tradition organised by the centre every year, where women and girls working with us are honoured by presenting flowers and gifts, and this year we decided to hold the celebration outside the walls of the centre to congratulate Egyptian women on International Women's Day."

Deputy Director of the Russian Cultural Centre Arseny Starkov expressed his happiness over Egyptian women’s reaction to the initiative, which reflects the simplicity of the Egyptian personality, which is characterised by fun and acceptance of others.

Dmitry Tarasov, ITAR-TASS Russian News Agency Bureau Chief in Cairo, said that the initiative was carried out as part of volunteer work by the Russian public movement ‘Volunteers of Victory,’ which participates in many charitable and cultural activities in the framework of supporting human relations between Egypt and Russia.
