Egyptian actress and singer Anoushka has announced on her Facebook page that she will be working on a new film called Hepta: The Last Lecture, directed by Hadi El-Bagoury, after a long hiatus from cinema.

Based on Hepta, a bestselling novel by Mohamed Sadek, the film will feature many well-known Egyptian actors, including Maged El-Kedwany, Ahmed Malek, Ahmed Dawood, Dina El-Sherbiny, Yasmine Raeis, Jamila Awad, Amr Youssef, Hany Adel, Ahmed Bedeir, Salwa Mohamed Aly and Kinda Alloush.

The novel was adapted for the screen by Wael Hamdy, who is also known for authoring the screenplay for Mikano (2009).

El-Bagoury's previous major works include Wahed Saheh (2011) and the thriller Warda (2014).

According to the information released by the producers, Hepta – which means seven in Greek – takes the audience on a journey to the worn-out world of love, where Sadek traces the seven stages of the emotion: the beginning, the encounter, the relationship bond, the wakefulness, the truth, which is followed by the decision, and then the ending, or the Hepta stage.

Anoushka (Kartanios Garbis Slim) was born to an Egyptian father and an Armenian mother in 1960. Parallel to her studies of Business Administration at the American University of Cairo, she used to sing in advertisements produced by the Tarek Nour's advertising firm. In the 1980s she began participating in international singing competitions and sung a song in a popular children's television program teaching the Arabic language, using her stage name Anoushka.

Anoushka's career kicked off in 1988 when she won first prizes in two competitions, in Turkey and in the Francophonie competitions in France.

Becoming one of the most popular singers in Egypt in the 1990s, Anoushka went on to release several albums: Habbaytak (1988), Nadani (1989), Tigi Tghanni (1990), Abayyan Zayn (1992), Keddab (1994). Her last album was in 2001 and was titled Nefsy Akoon.

As an actress, she first appeared in cinema in Salah Abou Seif's film Al-Sayed Kaf (1994), co-starring alongside Abdelmoneim Madbouly and Sanaa Gameel. She also acted in several television series, including Al-Tawoos in 1991, and more recently in 2014's Saraya Abdeen and Al-Sayeda Al-Oula.
