TV series trend on social media in Egypt on first day of Ramadan

With families spending Ramadan evenings at home, three television series and one programme have become the most viewed and shared by social media users

As per Ramadan tradition, with the beginning of the holy month local television and satellite channels released numerous new TV series and programmes which are followed by millions of families confined to their homes.

The first day of Ramadan has already brought three television series and one programme to the top shared or top searched content by the social media users.

Let us have a look at four most “Trending Today” television content in the first hours of their release on television channels:

The End (Al Nehaya) television series

Directed by Yasser Sami, ‘The End’ television series reached third most-trending on Twitter while the name of its star Youssef El Sherif was among the Twitter most-trending hashtags for some time.

The production company Synergy took social media to share the news with the supportive Tweeters.

Alongside El-Sherif, the series also stars Nahed El Sebaie, Sahar El Sayegh, Ahmed Wafik , Amr Abdelgelil.

The sci-fi series takes us one hundred years into the future where we meet an engineer who has to deal with the technology which appeared 50 years from now and proved damaging to the humanity.

The first episode focuses on a power engineer named Zain, who is a member of the company controlling power in 2120. Zain faces many problems due to some researches which aim to confront the danger of lack of power but which he is doing illegally.


The Choice (Al Ekhteyar) television series

Another production by Synergy became most-trending on social media.

The company has shared the news showing that the first episode of the series also reached number one in most-trending in Egypt on Twitter in first hours after its release as well as it received a huge feedback from the social media users.

‘The Choice’ stars Amir Karara, Ahmed El Awady, Dina Foad. The series is directed by Peter Mimi with script by Bahir Dowidar and directed by Peter Mimi.

The series is based on a true story of Ahmed Saber Al Mansi, commander of the 103th brigade, who was martyred in the ambush of the terrorist attack in the Egyptian city of Rafah, Sinai, in 2017.

The first episode of the series began with arresting of Hesham Ashmawy, a terrorist who used to be in army. The episode moves on to presenting some details from life of Al Mansi and Ashmawy.


The Forgetting Game (Luebat Al-Nesyan) television series

The first episode of the Forgetting Game television series also climbed to the top of Google search engine in Egypt shortly after being broadcasted on Shahid VIP. It has also scored high on Twitter hitting no. 5 for a few hours.

Directed by Ahmed Shafik and with the scenario by Tamer Habib, the series stars Dina El Sherbiny, Ahmed Dawood, Engy Al-Moqaddem,Aly Kassem, Mahmoud Qabeil.

According to, the series focuses on Rukia who “wakes up after a 4-month coma, only to discover that she does not remember anything that happened in the last six years of her life, and that she caused her husband to be killed because of her betrayal.”

Ramez is Definitely Crazy (Ramiz Magnon Rasmy) television programme

Egypt’s well-known actor and prankster presents his annual Ramadan programme in which he makes practical jokes on numerous celebrities.

The trailer of the program reached 10 million views on YouTube since its release.

The first episode which featured actress Ghada Adel became among the most-trending on Twitter in Egypt, only a few hours after its release.
