Case 404 (Al-Qadeya 404), the first Arabic series featuring actors with Down Syndrome, will screen online in Ramadan 2021, the crew said this week during an interview with Good Morning Egypt television programme.
The story by Mohamed Al-Ansari, who also directed the series, is based on a script developed by Ramez Abbas. The dramatic treatment was done by Mahmoud Abu Bakr.
Case 404 showcases real stories inspired by the lives of its protagonists, most of whom are performing in front of the camera for the first time.
The series showcases the challenges that people with Down Syndrome have to deal with due to misconceptions about their condition. It also highlights the determination that leads many of them to make valuable accomplishments.
Aside from presenting the true stories re-enacted by the actors with Down Syndrome, the series also gave them an opportunity to become part of a creative project.
The series is part of the 'Parallael World' initiative launched two years ago with the aim of shedding light on people with special abilities within the world of art and the media. Parallel World has produced a music video featuring people with special abilities.
