Sadek’s funeral will be held this afternoon at the Heliopolis Evangelical Church.
Ahdy Sadek Beshai, who was born on 16 November 1950, graduated from the Higher Institute of Theatrical Art.
He started his acting career in the 70s and flourished in the 1980s, appearing in more than 200 TV series, plays, and films, earning critical acclaim for playing complex characters as well as comedy roles.
Among his appearances in TV classics are notable roles in ‘El-Shahd Wal-Domou’, ‘Layaly El-Helmeya’, ‘Bawabat El-Halawany’, ‘Koky Kak’, ‘Arabesque’, ‘Zizinia’, ‘Helm El-Ganouby’, ‘Oum Kalthoum’, ‘El-Ragol El-Akhar’, and various seasons of ‘Alf Leila Wi-Leila’ and Ramadan's ‘Fawazeer.’
His latest TV appearances include ‘Tofahet Adam’, ‘Lahfa’, ‘Nasiby Wi-Esmetak’, ‘Heba Regl El-Ghorab’, ‘El-Fetewa’, ‘Naql A’am’, and ‘El-Serr.’
In theatre, Sadek gained much applause in recent years for his performance of ‘the Fool’ in various iterations of Yehia El-Fakharany’s ‘King Lear.’
His cinema roles include Youssef Chahine’s ‘Silence... We’re Rolling’ (2001), ‘The Sixth Day’ (1981), ‘El-Keif’ (1985), and ‘Ramadan Fouq El-Borkan’ (1985).
Many artists and filmmakers have mourned the loss of Sadek, including singers Ali El-Haggar, Samia Salah Jaheen, director Amir Rasees, as well as Actor’s Sydnicate President Ashraf Zaki, and Minister of Culture Ines Abdel-Dayem.
