Ramadan series ‘Touba’ trends in Egypt, Saudi Arabia

Following the screening of its fourth episode on MBC channel on Tuesday, television series ‘Touba’ started trending on a variety of platforms in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, including Google.


Equally, the name of Amr Saad — the actor starring in the series — was trending on Twitter in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia in an influx of positive reception around the series.

Moreover, Touba has become among the top watched series on Shahid — a streaming service.

Written by Ahmed Helba, Mohamed Fawzy, the series stars Amr Saad, Maged El-Masry, Diab, Saba Mubarak, and Marwa El-Azaly.

It is screened every evening during the month of Ramadan at 7pm on MBC channel and rerun at 3am the following morning.

Touba is based on the 1981 film ‘El-Mashbouh’ (‘The Suspect’), starring Adel Imam, Soad Hosny, Farouk El-Fishawy, and Said Saleh. The film focuses on Maher — a professional thief who decides to repent for his sins and live a more honourable life, however, his former partner has other plans.
