After a summer-long haitus Townhouse Gallery's first floor space is set to open 'Interruption' on Sunday 21 September.

"Procrastination is a bacterium that thrives in conditions of high workloads," reads the exhibition statement.

The exhibition features works by young artists Amna Badawy, Nouran Sherif, Muhammad Taymour, Reem El-Maghraby, Shadwa Ali, Tuqa El-Harouny and is curated by Shehab Awad.

'Interruption' is the sixth edition of Townhouse's exhibition series titled 'The Pick' which has taken place regularly since 2000.

Previous 'Picks' -- which displayed works by students and recent graduates -- have challenged the issues associated with shows carrying labels such as "young" or "emerging" which usually promise experimentation and which get the audience to settle that the artist is not ready to exhibit. This - according to the press release - endorses preconveived notions of how a young artist's work is supposed to look like. It is with 'Interruption' that Townhouse wishes to address and break those convictions.

In 'Interruption' the artists intervene to question these labels under a concept of imposed manipulations that could be influencing our behaviour unconciously.

Programme:
Interruption will open on Sunday 21 September at 8pm in Townhouse Gallery
First Floor Space, 10 Nabrawy Street, Off Champollion Street, Downtown Cairo
The exhibition is ongoing until 29 October
