For the past eight years, Damon Kowarsky has been exploring the theme of the city. He finds the city to be a fascinating collective of characters and forms of the urban environment. His drawings, paintings and prints portay clay houses as well as steel structures, each expressing elements found in big aglomerations.
The work in the exhibition In Visible Cities is based on time Kowarsky spent in Cairo as well as his many visits to other cities around the globe: Damascus, Chicago, New York and his home town of Melbourne, Australia. "By bringing together images of these cities - old and new, familiar and completely unknown - Kowarsky shows both the links that bind these places and the distinctive details that mark them as their own."
The exhibition openas on 8 May at 7pm at Mashrabia Gallery and will run until 2 June
Mashrabia Gallery, 8, Champollion St, Downtown, Cairo
