'Syrian Artists Today' exhibition opens in Bordeaux, France

The two-week exhibition will present works by artists in the Syrian diaspora, running 24 January to 12 February

Cenon, located in the suburbs of Bordeaux in southwest France, will hold an exhibition opening today dedicated to Syrian artists.
 
According to information released by Le Rocher de Palmer, which will host the exibition, the opening will also include music and film screenings.
 
The Syrian art on display presents works on war  artistic visions of a terrifying reality. Spanning from photography to digital art, drawings and paintings, the works "are exciting in themselves, though they are a painful testimony" to what their creators experienced.

The majority of artists to be featured already displayed their art in 2014 at the Institute of Islamic Culture located in Paris. This is the first time an event completely dedicated to Syria visits Bordeaux.

The exhibiting artists are from the Syrian diaspora, living currently in Paris, Vienna, Beirut and other cities. The artists include Fadi Yaziji, Ziad Kalthoum, Akram Al-Halabi, Mohamad Omran, Monif Ajaj, and Muzzafar Salman.
 
The opening will feature musicians including Khaled Aljaramani, Mohannad Aljaramani and Noma Omran.
