Shades, a painting exhibit by Egyptian artist Joseph El-Duwairy, will open at Gezira Art Center in Zamalek.

The exhibition consists of 70 oil and acrylic paintings on canvas that reflect the inner feelings of human beings in different situations.

“Bodies and faces in this exhibition express themselves without words. It is my attempt to reflect the inner feelings in a visual way that communicates directly with the heart and mind of the audience, to evoke their memories, dreams, frustrations, hopes, and joys,” El-Duwairy said to Ahram Online.

He uses lines and spaces, or both combined, with the use of contrasting colors, “to confirm the the weight of the subject, giving the concept depth and a modern treatment,” the artist said.

Programme:
Shades opens on 2 March and will run till 16 March
Ahmed Sabry Hall, Gezira Art Centre, 1 El Masrafy Street, Zamalek, Cairo
