The artist documented his deep sentiments towards Rome

Roma Fargahli, a painting exhibition by Egyptian artist Fargahli Abdel Hafiz, will open in Zamalek Art Gallery on 6 March and will run until 4 April.

In his exhibition the artist is reflecting his own passionate perspective of the Italian city.

In the events press release, Fargahli explained his attachment to Rome:"I have been an ardent admirer of Fellini’s Rome, a Rome that is both playful and dignified.

“In my own way, and from a cultural perspective of Egypt of the 1960s, I have long worshiped its enchanting streets and fountains, its serenely majestic buildings, and its charming cafes,” he continued to say.

“To me, all these features represent a source of aesthetic pleasure, one to which I returned to in 2015 to paint these treasures for the first time. In depicting these images, I documented and affirmed my deep ardor and sentiments towards Rome,” Fargahli added.

He concluded: “To my delight, I found that it has retained its serene grandeur and timeless beauty."

Farghali's work is often linked to issues of identity and environment. He frequently works in his studio located in Dahshour, a city for renowned for its history and quiet environment. 

Born in Dairout, Middle Egypt, in 1941, Abdel Hafiz graduated from the Institute of Art Education and the Academy of Fine Art in Florence. He held the position of dean of the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University between 1989 and 1994. He continues to teach at the academy until date.

The artist has held over 40 private exhibitions, and participated in over 20 international exhibits in the USA & Europe.
