Zawya will host on 19 August the third edition of Mapping Possibilities, an experimental project of audio-visual performances.
The project brings together a group of six artists that collaborated on conceptual or technical levels.
The project aims to showcase independent and original work from the contemporary Egyptian scene, free from institutional rigidity and despite a lack of funding.
The first and second sessions of the project were centred on the process of production over a period of one year-and-a-half, and involved revisiting previous joint projects, live audio/visual jamming, and discussing acquired knowledge and conceptual directions on the contemporary scene.
In this edition, the artists present new audio/visual pieces that emerged from collaborative workshops between visual/media artists, programmers, music producers and sound artists.
“The pieces performed will rely on groundbreaking production technologies and offer new ways of digital production in hopes of contributing to the independent scene,” the project’s description reads.
The line-up of performers, who will perform in pairs, comprise Ola Saad and Islam Shabana, Abadir and Donia Shohdy, Kareem Lotfy and Roba Mostafa, Sabaa 62 and 1127, and Onsy and Nurah.
Programme:
19 August at 6.30pm
