Syrian cartoonist Ali Ferzat has been named on Foreign Policy magazine’s top 100 global thinkers list. He was beaten up on 25 August by the Syrian regime’s El-Shabiha thugs for his dissident cartoons.
Ferzat, 60, is one of the most famous cartoonists in the Arab World. He published the satirical magazine Al-Domar (Lamplighter), which ran from late-2000 until he was forced to close it in 2003.
