Khan El-Maghraby gallery will host an exhibition of paintings by Omar Abdelzaher titled A Gift of the River and Sea, opening on 9 January.

Abdelzaher was born in Aswan in 1966, and holds a PhD in fine arts with a specialization in graphics from the Fine Arts University in Cairo.

His work is inspired by nature, everyday life, and has a flavor of folklore. He portrays Egyptian women, often through a light hearted, romantic lens. In bright colors he portrays fields, coffee shops, figures in different rooms, with motifs of objects from daily life.

In Egypt he has exhibited his work over the years, including at ArtsMart, Gallery Le Caire, and El-Gezira Art Center. He has works in the permanent exhibition of Cairo’s Museum of Modern Art, and the Cultural Development Fund.

The exhibition opens on 9 January and runs till 20 January
