Egypt to reopen state galleries and museums

Most of the venues scheduled for reopening operate under the culture ministry

Egypt's galleries and museums will reopen starting 7 July, said the culture ministry. 

The locations planned for reopening include those operatig under the Plastic Arts Sector, headed by Khaled Sorour, and the Cultural Development Fund, headed by Fathi Abdel Wahab, both operating under the culture ministry.

Among the venues planned to reopen by the Plastic Arts Sector are Mahmoud Mokhtar, Gamal Abdel-Nasser, and Mostafa Kamel museums (Cairo), in addition to other venues in Cairo and Alexandria.

The Cultural Development Fund will reopen the  Um Kalthoum Museum located at the Manasterly Palace and the permanent exhibitions at the Prince Taz Palace. In the second phase, scheduled for 2 August, the fund will reopen the Naguib Mahfouz Museum in Al-Azhar, Cairo.
