2019
In response to widespread interest from applicants, Cairo's Mashrabia Gallery for Contemporary Arts has annouced an extension of the deadline to submit works for an online exhibition titled 'My Favorite Things.'
The new deadline is 17 July, instead of the previously anounced 7 July.
"After the success of the four previous editions, we are coming back again this year in the hope of discovering new talents. For our fifth edition we decided to open a call for participation to give everyone an equal opportunity," reads the press release.
The exhibition accepts works from Egypt-based women artists in all art media, bearing in mind that the pieces will be displayed on an online exhibition, hence require strong photography.
The exhibition does not set a specific theme; the gallery is looking for "original, authentic and innovative artworks" created within 2019/2020.
Each participant can send more than one work. However, in the case of submitting several works, they must share a visual and conceptual coherence that unites them.
Applicants are also required to provide the following documentation: a complete CV of the artist, high resolution pictures of the artworks, artwork captions, and a brief statement.
"If you have a project in mind that has not yet come to life, send sketches, a small scale sample of the artwork, the envisioned size and a brief description," the gallery added.
The participants should submit their work via email — [email protected] — with “My Favourite Things 5 Application” in the subject line.
