An amalgam of artists from the Middle East and North Africa are scheduled to gather at the second Egypt International Art Fair, scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 February.
The fair organisers said "this is the first event of its kind that brings together a wide variety of Arab artists, audiences, critics, patrons, and art collectors from all over the region. All these participants, with their active presence, will contribute to enriching the event, creating dialogue and interaction between the audience and participating artists."
This year, the fair’s board of trustees consists of a group of prominent public figures, artists and academics, including Ahmed Nawar, Mohamed Abla, and Syrian actress Kinda Alloush.
A member of the Board of Trustees, Mohamed Younes, said in a press release: “This session comes under exceptional difficult circumstances imposed on cultural activity and the global economy by the coronavirus epidemic. It requires more effort from us, however despite the challenges, we are committed to holding this important event. In such challenging times, the fair is a rare window of opportunity for the art movement in Egypt and the region to rise again, and for recovery from this harsh ordeal that afflicted the region and the world at large."
He added that the fair is "one of the important and ambitious international events that seek to create a dynamic communication between those interested in art, from institutions to individuals. We aim to showcase the creative practice in its widest and most comprehensive form, while boosting the relationship between arts and all other fields and activities."
This edition of the annual fair will host a wide spectrum of artistic practices in Egypt and the MENA region. It represents a real opportunity to establish a new cooperation between all capitals of the Arab region, read the press release.
