National Geographic Abu Dhabi revealed the ten finalists of the photography competition titled ’2020 Moments: A Year Lived Differently’.

The finalists who were chosen from over 27 thousand entries include works by: Ahmed Al-Shehi, Salem Sarhan, and Safiaa Al-Zaabi from the UAE; Hussein Ali and Afrah Saleh Al-Harby from Saudi Arabia; Khalil Ashmawi from Syria; Ahmed Lazem from Iraq; Ahmed Al-Azam from Jordan; and two photos from Palestine by Samar Abu Al-Ouf.

The theme of the competition stressed on the concept of moments representing the year 2020: From moments of togetherness in times when we were kept apart from friends and families due to the coronavirus to unique moments linked to the year 2020 as captured by the photographers.

The winners will be announced later this year. The winner will have their photograph released in the National Geographic Al-Arabiya Magazine, in addition to $10,000 worth of professional photography equipment.

This is the eighth edition of the National Geographic Abu Dhabi annual photography competition, which has attracted over 250 thousand photographers from the Middle East and North Africa since it launched years ago.
