In its seventh collaboration with the Spanish artist Xavier Puigmartí, Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art will launch his solo exhibition on 27 February.
Titled The Garden, the exhibition will showcase 36 pieces which the artist created during the isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic in his home in the heart of Fayoum Oasis.
The paintings are a result of Puigmarti's "observations of the surrounding enchanted landscapes," the gallery reveals in the press release.
Inspiration drawn from nature is not new to the artist. In 2018, he held a solo exhibition titled Landscapes at Mashrabia focusing on paintings of the desert landscapes "in which men collected fossils and women played with celestial bodies."
The gallery adds that most recently Puigmartí has sojourned in Iran, discovering the Persian gardens where dreams and memories materialize.
Programme:
The opening will take place on Saturday 27 February from 1pm to 9pm
The exhibition will continue until 24 March.
