Egyptian artist, cartoonist Ibrahim Henetar dies at age 75

Egyptian artist Ibrahim Henetar passed away in early hours of Friday, his son revealed on social media.

Born on 26 August 1948, Ibrahim Henetar (also known as Hanteer) contributed significantly to the Egyptian creative scene with his paintings, drawings and cartoons published in various newspapers.

A graduate of the Cairo Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Engraving, Print and Graphic, the late artist presented his works in countless local exhibitions as well as internationally, such as at the Roman National Museum, Romania (2006) and during the 18th Gabrovo Biennale in Bulgaria (2007).

He was among the founding members of the Syndicate of the Egyptian Fine Artists – Graphic Department. Henetar was also a board member of the Egyptian Association of Caricatures and a member of numerous artistic associations such as the Association of Al-Ghury Artists, the Association of Egypt`s Salon of Photography, the National Association of Fine Arts and the Cairo Atelier.

Henetar's work was published by several Egyptian and regional newspapers, including Al-Ahram.

The prayers for the late artist took place Friday at the El-Rahman El-Rahim Mosque in Cairo, followed by a funeral at the family graves.

No information has yet been provided regarding the wake.
