Over one thousand of young artists between the ages of 18 - 30, from one hundred nations have been selected for the world's first World Event Young Artists (WEYA) to take place in Nottingham between 7 - 16 September.

According to the WEYA official press release: "World Event Young Artists is delivered by UK Young Artists and builds on the success of the Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean, celebrating the creativity of young artists."

WEYA will be a finale to the 2012 Cultural Olympiad and builds on the success of the Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean (BJCEM).

The event will showcase some of the best creative talents from across the globe in a festival programme that stretches across multiple art forms, including visual art, music performances, theatrical installations as well as gastronomic events.

A number of artists from Egypt and the MENA region will participate in exhibitions and round tables organised within the World Event Young Artists. Alongside this, a festival programme will bring together some of the leading lights of the international arts scene.

New Art Exchange, an award-winning contemporary art gallery based in the centre of Nottingham, will exhibit works by artists from Austria, Cyprus, Chile, Morocco, Turkey, Croatia, Syria, among many others. From Egypt, works by Marwa Adel and Mohamed Alaaeddin Metwally will be on display.

On 12 September, WEYA will hold a symposium titled "Sharing Values across the Euro-Mediterranean Neighbourhood: Arts for intercultural dialogue and social change," which will tackle the experience of developing projects in Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and the UK.
