The exhibition was inaugurated on 7 December at Isis and Nahdet Misr halls in Mahmoud Mokhtar Cultural Centre, and it closes on 16 December.
The event’s third edition bore the name of El-Adawi, founder of the Egyptian Caricature Society.
A large group of El-Adawi's students displayed creative works that expressed different stages in the life of the artist.
"We dedicate this exhibition to our brothers in Gaza, who with their steadfastness, patience, sacrifices, and martyrs conquer the brutality of the occupier. The exhibition includes works aiming to express our support of the Palestinian cause and solidarity with our people in Palestine," said artist Fawzi Morsi, curator of the exhibition.
The event included also three financial prizes presented by the family of the late artist Mohamed Abdel-Moneim Rakha for the best works.
The first prize is 3,000 pounds, the second is 2,000 pounds, and the third is 1,000 pounds, in addition to two prizes for those with distinguished creativity, which are the original drawings provided by Akhbar Al-Youm’s artist Amr Fahmy and artist Ibrahim Al-Baridi.
The jury, which includes the artists Mohamed Hakim, Amr Selim, and Farouk Moussa, chose five award-winning works.
The Egyptian Caricature Society chose 7 December of each year to be the Egyptian Caricature Day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of artist Rakha, the pioneer of Egyptian caricature art.
