Collection of newspaper photos from Cairo's 2011 exhibition
After two exhibitions, followed by symposiums in London (2010) and Cairo (2011) exploring the shift of geopolitical discourse from the land to the sea, Hydrarchy comes in a bilingual publication format, launching on 30 September at the Contemporary Image Collective (CIC).
Audience members will be able to get their copy of the publication, in addition to attending two film screenings dealing with the theme of the book.
The first screening will be of Atlantiques (2009) by Mati Diop, a short film observing the conversations of young Senegalese men discussing seaborne migration.
Later will be a screening of Polly II - Plan for a Revolution in Docklands (2006) by Anja Kirchner and David Panos, which envisions a flooded London based on the 1728 play Polly.
Hydrarchy is a project curated by Mia Jankowicz, the artistic director of CIC, along with Anna Colin, and independent curator.
Programme:
Sunday, 30 September at 7pm in CIC's Fourth Floor space
